Cranio Sacral Therapy is a light touch therapy that helps to reset
natural rhythms in your body to support you more appropriately. It
releases restrictions around the brain and spinal cord so that your
body can self-correct and free itself of pain and many other health
conditions. This natural therapy works with the body and not against
it. I am a licensed Massage Therapist and have been doing Cranio Sacral
Therapy for people since 1992. I have helped people who suffer chronic pain because of accidents, sports, overwork etc. and some people come to me because they just want to relax and feel better. I assist those who suffer from migraines, sciatic pain, chronic respiratory weaknesses, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. I work with children and adults who have learning disabilities and autism. I have been able to help many who have emotional difficulties, post traumatic stress disorder and post surgical disfunction. I have worked on all ages from new born babies to people in their late 90's.
If you would like to experience this deep relaxing therapy, or if you just have questions, Please call me, Joyce South at 801-255-9654 The Craniosacral system is a
physical environment in which the brain and spinal
cord develop and function. It is similar to the cardiovascular
and respiratory systems. The membranes and cerebrospinal fluid of the
craniosacral system surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Craniosacral therapy deals with the bones of the head, spinal column,
sacrum and the underlying structures. This therapy uses specifically
designed techniques to release restrictions and compression in these
areas. Why Choose Cranio Sacral Therapy?
Sometimes you don't have a choice about what happens in life and you find yourself reacting
to an unexpected and unwelcome change. An illness or
injury to yourself or a family member, a job loss, or relationship problems etc. Facing
an unpredicted crisis can overwhelm familiar coping skills with
intense emotions such as anxiety, doubt, anger or despair. Cranio Sacral Therapy
can add support to your problem solving skills, and teach you effective
strategies for self care, and guide you through difficult times.
Other times, you may be feeling that you need self exploration as
you move through a transition in your life. Sometimes you just need someone to
help you explore patterns in your relationships, find courage to challenge your
fears, build confidence, manage grief or loss and spiritual conflicts,
body image issues, or other blockages that may be keeping you stuck?
Even
those of us who
are busy, being pulled in many directions by others, frantic with
grief,
distracted by pain from the past, worried about the future,
overwhelmed by managing the demands of real life every day, You can
learn to pay more attention to yourself and relax the terrible stress
on your body. Take a deep breath, quiet your mind and calm your
thoughts. Relax your body and pay attention to your feelings and energize your self. Cranio Sacral Therapy, meditation, and
self care skills can decrease anxiety symptoms, enhance pain
management, and support peaceful calm so you can maintain your health
and wellness even during stressful times.
WHAT IS SOMATIC EMOTIONAL RELEASE - If you go to a psychotherapist, they will work with you on how you feel and think in regard to other
people, and what strategies you might try to be more successful in relationships. Somatics is how you think and feel about
your body. The only relationship Somatic work focuses on is the one
you have with your own body.A Somatic Emotional Release (or
SER) is a therapeutic process that uses and expands the principles of
CranioSacral Therapy, to help rid the mind and body of the residual
effects of trauma and release suppressed emotions that may be
inhibiting complete structural releases. It means revisiting past injury or trauma in the body and you focus on creating and building safety patterns within yourself to
allow recovery of physical capabilities and emotional contentment and
happiness. Through careful somatic work, the pain, fear and confusion
that accompany trauma can be replaced by peace, understanding and
wisdom.
I attempt to find where and when your
pain occurs and how it began. I can assist in calming irritated nerves, and ease
tense muscles. Muscular and postural imbalances can cause pain by
compressing the joints. Restoring free movement leads to a great
reduction of inflammation and associated pain.
Part of my job is to see where in your body is not stacking
efficiently. Many of us have been
taught to feel strain as a way of knowing that we are doing something useful. Strain
usually means we are overdoing something and we need help to learn to do it
more easily. Much
of what we call normal aging is restricted movement, and so much of it is
reversible. There is no need for older persons to lose so much of their
free movement.
Increasing
Performance and adding
capability is most often a matter of identifying unused resources and
then combining that with cleaning up old injuries and replacing old
habits with more efficient ones. I have worked with professional level
athletes, dancers, performers, and singers and "regular"
people who were interested in exploring their physical function and
expression.
I work to re-train your musculature
via your brain, which is the controlling organ. Often old injuries
are not completely resolved, and these can drain energy. I can help
you quickly get rid of nagging problems and establish new positive
habits. This leads directly to great improvements.
Foot, knee and hip problems are all related. Most knee problems are
actually caused by restrictions far
away from the place of pain. I focus on the cause so you can
move past the symptom. I had knee pain for years until I realized that
my feet weren't getting the proper support. If I keep my feet
supported, I rarely have knee pain.
There are at least three ways to treat
balance challenges. We can work structurally to align the body so
that balance is easier, and to improve the function of the feet so
that standing is safer. We can treat the cranial system, which can
directly improve inner ear balance. If
I feel I can't help you, I might be
able to send you to another excellent practitioner for what you want.
As wonderful and Cranio Sacral Therapy is, it isn't a cure all.
Sometimes other modalities work better and I have referred many of my
clients to other people. TESTIMONIALS It
seems like it was about 12 years ago when I received my first treatment
from Joyce. I had been referred by a friend at work who had been cured
of a back strain by Joyce. My history is one of years of difficulty
associated with a spinal defect--a defect that neither doctors nor
chiropractors could completely heal. Joyce is the only treatment
provider who has been able to keep me pain free, and now I only go see
her once every few months for maintenance. I can't say enough about the
tremendous blessing of health that Joyce has been in my life! --
Bruce Fordham When I have a CranioSacral session, I notice a huge difference in my
ability to think better. I am part owner of a moving company in which I
do a lot of organizing, lifting and driving long distances. I also do
detailed art work, including painting wood grain design patterns on
damaged furniture etc. My life can be very stressful and when my
‘business brain’ isn’t working, I know that my body is out of
alignment; and Cranio Sacral therapy seems to line everything up, and
my ability to think and reason returns and my art work improves. -- Jason
I
struggled with depression, anxiety, and chronic health problems my
entire life. I had seen other providers in the natural medicine field,
but I began to really heal physically and emotionally after I began
having treatments from Joyce. She was also SO MUCH more affordable than
other people were, so I was able to get the help I needed. I have more
energy and feel like a whole new person emotionally. I've learned how
to manage my own health for the most part. In the beginning I went
every few weeks. Now I go in when I feel that I'm really structurally
out of balance, which doesn't happen often. Joyce is an amazing
teacher as well as a talented healer. She is different than many
because she wants people to be able to be as self-reliant as possible
when it comes to their health. I've learned so much from her so that I
can be responsible for my own health. After my babies are born, I bring
them in and she does amazing work for them and for me. I recover so
much faster from child-birth when I have one or two appointments with
her after the baby is born. My pregnancies are also better when I go to
Joyce during those really uncomfortable last months. My husband is
naturally skeptical of "complimentary or alternative" health care, but
is a firm believer in what Joyce does. He is an electrician and does A
LOT of physical labor. More than once she has helped him so he could
keep working after he had hurt his back. She has been a blessing to our
entire family. -- Jennifer Walker
